Families are left holding a business they do not understand.
When a business owner is no longer available, decisions still need to be made, often before the full picture is visible. Families are dealing with what is happening: illness, incapacity, or loss and being asked to answer urgent business questions at the same time. They are trying to work out:
- 01Who can make decisions, and where that responsibility actually sits
- 02What the real financial position is, the cash, the debts, the obligations that cannot wait
- 03How long the business can keep running, and what needs to happen to protect it
- 04Which contracts and leases carry the most immediate risk
- 05How the business actually works day to day, the knowledge that lived only with the owner
